Uzès and your Holiday Home

Uzès is a beautiful medieval town that is located not so far from the Mas Blanc. It is the seat of the Duchy L’Uzège. The current Duke JACQUES Emmanuel Eric Raymond Marie THE CRUSSOL, is the 17th Duc d’Uzès.

Every Saturday a regional market is held at Place aux Herbes, in the characteristic center of the town. If you are on holiday for two weeks on the Mas Blanc, it is certainly worthwhile visiting Uzès and this market. The market is famous and a variety of regional products are offered.

Pont du Gard near Uzés
Uzès can be reached from Mas Blanc through Saint Ambroix and Lussan. It can certainly be combined with a visit to the famous Pont du Gard. The pont du gard, built by the Romans 2000 years ago, was supposed to transport water to Nimes from Uzes. Every year, at the beginning of January, a strikingly beautiful spectacle is created on and around this bridge with thousands of burning oil pots and lamps in all kinds of shapes.

Uzés and its surroundings
In the time of the religious wars, the Cathedral Saint-Théodorit was destroyed and rebuilt in the middle of the 17th century. Go visit it. Noteworthy are the organ with decorated shutters dating from the time of Louis XIV as well as the wrought iron gallery that runs through the entire first level.
And if you are in Uzés, you should also check out some of the following sights:
Tour de Fenestrelle: this 42 meter high Romanesque tower also suffered from the religious wars. Its upper part was rebuilt in the 17th century. The tour Fenestrelle derives its name from its numerous openings: on 5 of the 6 levels there are ‘windows’. It is considered the bell tower of the cathedral.
Episcopal palace: located next to the cathedral and houses the municipal museum Georges-Borias
Palace of the Duc d’Uzès: stands out for its three feudal towers and a roof with a huge coat of arms, formed by roof tiles of different colors
Place aux Herbes: is a picturesque square with a fountain surrounded by many plane trees. Around the square are houses with arches. And here you have to be for a nice lunch or coffee stop.

High season two weeks?
On the Mas Blanc the thorough cleaning of the accommodations on Saturday comes first. This is one of our strengths. In the high season we also want to be able to deliver that quality.

If, in the year that precedes your holiday, you want to reserve a holiday in the high season (2nd week July to 3rd week of August, we therefore only accept bookings for one week after consultation.) This way we are able to do a better cleaning. In this case, please contact us.

If you book after 1 January you can also book online for one week.
